Our Story

Washdolly was an inspiration to feel good while tidying up the environment. With one household at a time a subtle shift will make a difference in reducing disposable waste and while our products make you feel good so will the Butterfly Effect of choosing them and using them everyday.

Hi there!  My name is Lisa Lefebvre and I am the driving force behind Washdolly. I am a wife and mother of four amazing, young adults and a recent empty nester in the town of Peace River, Alberta.  Between dance, hockey and baseball, I have worked as an Aesthetician since 2001, and recently in Social Media and Merchandising. I love permanent makeup, reading and am a firm believer that laughter is the best medicine.

I've had such enjoyment bringing you Washdolly products and I'm so thankful for all the support from my family, friends, clients and customers. It takes a village to build a business!  Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.  Whether you're a first time customer, a loyal long term customer or just window shopper because your mom or friend said, 'you have to try this!.'  I am so excited you're on our site.

Cheers to more reusable products that will make you happy!

Our shift has been the 'Gift of Washdolly' due to our customers need to share them with family and friends. Therefore, lots of effort goes into our packaging so that each product can be given as a gift without any boxes or gift bags. Our packaging can be used to re-gift or personal use.

We have added a leaf charm to our Makeup Remover packaging to signify our love for the environment. A tiny symbol of the evolving choices we make for a better future.

Why Washdolly?

When you look up the history of washing up pops washing dolly, a tool used over and over again to make it easier to clean clothes.  Washdolly, a cloth you use over and over again to make it easier to clean your face, and with just water 💦  it removes makeup and exfoliates.  It's super soft, so when you add warm or cold water (depending on your desire) and hold it on your face for a moment it becomes an easy, enjoyable moment.

One you'll want to revisit everyday.

Hay! That's a great idea, products that create easy, enjoyable moments everyday.

With the help of my family I created OUR FIRST REUSABLE PRODUCT

With three girls in the home, removing makeup was a daily ritual.  We found it frustrating when we ran out of makeup remover!  I never liked using the makeup wipes on the girls when removing dance makeup, especially the mascara.  We noticed that a thin micro-fiber cleaning cloth could take off our mascara but was too rough on the skin. That was when the search began and the creativity bloomed.  The idea was to eliminate makeup removers, their containers and makeup wipes while having the convenience of soft cloths in each bathroom and at dance competitions for easy access that got the job done. That is why we named the smaller cloths Dance Washdollys.  We care for the environment and for our skin.  This unique material exfoliates in its damp form which works amazing for Alberta's dry lips. We tested many materials and found a wonderful Manufacture in Taiwan. The Washdolly Makeup Remover & Exfoliant Cloth promises a feel good moment with each use, everyday.

MORE REUSABLE PRODUCTS

We gave some thought about Babies...

The Baby Boogie Butler!  Inspired by my sister-in-law, who has four grandchildren. Washdolly has introduced as a cloth that grips and removes boogies a.k.a mucus as well as prevents the sore, dry, red noses of babies created by colds. Prevention is the key here. Washdolly's soft grip will not irritate the skin like wipes or tissues.  Your baby will welcome it's softness, loves the texture and not turn away.   The Baby Boogie Butler will reduce disposable waste and last about 1000 washes.
The Booyah Hands-free Baby Towel makes bath time fun and easy. When you snap the towel around your neck both hands are free to pick up your baby and wrap them up in the ever so soft Washdolly material. We made it oversized to grow with your children.  A passion purchase for Grandmas!

Magnetic Accent Lashes

My Magnetic Accent Lashes!  Inspired by the lack of eyelashes as a result of menopause. They are like great hair extensions for eyelashes and I ware them daily.  A reusable 1/2 lash that enhances the look of the eye in a natural way without using any harsh glues. You can wear two magnetic lashes across your lash line for a fuller, bolder look or use one set on the ends of your lashes for an accent. The are light and last a long time, just don't wear them to bed.

Clean your glasses and your phone

We found that the cloth works great for cleaning lens and screens so we introduced Washdolly White. I keep one everywhere!

Taz

Inspired by our 17 year old Terrier/Poodle, Taz, who passed away in 2019, the Bow Wow Puppy Towel  is a multi-purpose towel that will easily clean dog's paws, dry them after a bath, sooth them in a storm and be that soft cleaning cloth when your puppy is injured.  Use in the car to cover your seats or have it around for comfort. It is made of 40% bamboo charcoal, so it absorbs odours but keeps its softness for each use, everyday.

The help behind the force

Alexa continues to sell and promote Washdolly from Calgary.  She graduated with distinction from the University of Calgary in 2018 and now holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance. After teaching dance in Airdrie, Ab for the last 5 years she is back at UofC to obtain her Teaching Degree.  She was the inspiration of the Dance Washdolly cloth that has brought us great success in the dance world. Having it made as a smaller version (15x20cm) made sense for travel, change and easy correction at dance competitions.  Who more than dancers needs a cloth like this?

Our second daughter McKenzie, created our logo and contributes regularly to our graphics, website and design departments. We value her keen eye and fresh perspective. While finishing off her degree in Computer Science at The University of Calgary, she is currently working in Fort McMurray for CNRL coding for a Boston Dynamics AI Dog.

Our nest is getting emptier, our son Spencer graduated in 2019 and is pursuing a career as a Heavy Duty Mechanic. His talents are all over the place and continues to provide input into the business while promoting products.

Our youngest, Joel, graduated in 2022 is currently takeing Computer Programming at Nait in Edmonton, Ab.  He manages the online store from time to time and is happy to be paid with ice cream.
